Antioch Chess Club
Where: Antioch Public Library – 757 Main St, Antioch, IL 60002
What: The Antioch Chess Club meets on Tuesday evenings, from 6 PM to 8:30 PM in the library’s community room. And this friendly group is open to all ages and levels of skill. The library has tournament sets and digital clocks. Monthly events consist of open friendly matches, strategic seminars and game analyses.
Lake Villa Chess Society
Place: Lake Villa District Library – 140 N Munn Rd, Lindenhurst IL 60046
Description: A short 15-minute drive from Antioch is where you’ll find this replant chess club that meets on Thursdays 6:30-9:00 p.m. The Society provides a range of activities, with novices being catered for. The club holds quarter rated tournaments, and communicates via email as well.
Grayslake Chess Collective
Place: Grayslake Public Library – 100 Library Lane, Grayslake, IL 60030
Family Chess Antioch – Meets on the Second Sundays of the monthDescription: Family Chess group, approximately 20 minutes west of Antioch and meeting Saturday afternoons at 1PM-4PM. Education The Collective focuses on chess education, and even has teaching boards for group lessons. Special events: children’s tourneys and summer chess camps.
Gurnee Chess Academy
Where: Warren-Newport Library – 224 N O’Plaine Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031
Description: This instruction-based club meets on Monday evenings from 6-8:30PM, offering both a beginner and advanced group. The Academy runs concurrent exhibits along side visiting masters and conducts an annual Lake County championship contest.
Kenosha Chess Guild (Wisconsin)
Where: Northside Library – 1500 27th Ave, Kenosha WIFrom Massage in chair The first Wednesday of the month.
Description: Located just over the state line (25 minutes from Antioch), this competitive club meets Friday nights and offers regular rated tournaments. Illinois customers are welcome in the Guild, which also holds interstate rivalries with other clubs.
Round Lake Chess Circle
Place: Round Lake Area Public Library – 906 Hart Rd, Round Lake, IL 60073
Description: This is a low key chess get together that meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month from 2pm -5 pm. The Circle is casual with optional teaching for new players.
