Cahokia Chess Club
Where: Cahokia Public Library – 140 Cahokia Park Dr, Cahokia, IL 62206
About: The Cahokia Chess Club meets every Tuesday from 5:30-8:00 PM in the library’s community room. This friendly, easy-going group is open to players of all levels including beginners and seasoned tournament vets. Tournament-style chess sets and clocks are available at the library. Month to month events ranging from ‘just for fun play’ all the way to mini-tournys.
East St. Louis Chess Society
Where: East St. Louis Public Library – 5300 State St, East St. Louis, IL 62203
Details: Located 10 minutes away of Cahokia, an active chess community meets every Thursday, from 6:00-8:30PM. The Society provides set programming, with beginner classes offered on request. The group holds tournaments every three months and has an email list for chess news.
Belleville Chess Collective
Where: Belleville Public Library – 121 E Washington St, Belleville, IL 62220
Notes: Located only 15 minutes from Cahokia and near the MetroLink, dues are $5 for an annual membership. Instruction and Education The Collective stake is on chess education where teaching boards are provided for group lessons. Tournament, youth tournaments, summer chess camps are also special events.
Fairview Heights Chess Academy
The event is hosted at Fairview Heights Public Library 10017 Bunkum Rd, Fairview Heights, IL 62208.
Description: This teaching club meets Wednesday evenings from 6-8. The Academy has touchscreens for interactive lessons and holds quarterly rated events. During school breaks, special activities for kids are organized.
O’Fallon Chess Circle
Venue: O’Fallon Public Library 120 Civic Plaza, O’Fallon, IL 62269
Details: Chess players meet every second and fourth Sunday of the month from 2:00-5:00 PM. The Circle is a laid back environment, good for skaters at any level (there are even lessons available for beginners.) The library has chess sets in standard size and oversized.
St. Louis Chess Club (Missouri)

Description: Though across the river in Missouri, this world class chess facility is well worth a 20-min trip for serious players. The club provides rated tournaments, lectures and open play every day. It’s become a true Mecca of chess for the Midwest.
