Details: The Mount Vernon Chess Club meets weekly in the library’s community room from 5:30-8:00 PM on Thursdays. This is a friendly group that are happy to let beginners join in, right through to good players. The library will offer tournament-style chess sets and clocks. On a monthly basis, players have a chance to participate in relaxed tournaments or solve puzzles and discuss strategies, all guided by more experienced player volunteers.
Centralia Chess Society

Description: A 25-minute drive from Mount Vernon, this lively community of chess players meets every Tuesday from 6-8:30pm. The Society has regular programming and beginners classes are taught on request. It organizes 4 rated tourneys in the year and keeps emailer for chess advts & gamedealings.
