Richton Park Chess Club

Where: Richton Park Public Library – 4455 Sauk Trail, Richton Park, IL 60471

Description: The Richton Park Chess Club meets every Wednesday from 6-8:30pm in the library meeting room. All skill levels are welcomed in this friendly bunch. The library has tournament style chess sets and digital clocks. Additional: Monthly play is for fun and includes strategy discussions and some mini-tournaments.

Matteson Chess Society

Where: Matteson Public Library, 801 S School Ave, Matteson, IL 60443

Details: Located only 5 minutes away from Richton Park, this is an active chess community that meets every Thursday night at 6:30 – 9pm. The Society also has a learned program with beginners tuition on request. The club runs quarterly rated tournaments and have an email list for notifications.

Park Forest Chess Collective

Where: Park Forest Public Library – 400 Lakewood Blvd, Park Forest, IL 60466

Description: 10 minute drive from Richton Park, family-friendly chess group meets on Saturday afternoon between 1-4 p.m. The Collective focuses on the chess education, and even has teaching boards for groups. Special programs are youth tournaments and summer chess camps.

 

Olympia Fields Chess Academy

Place: Olympia Fields Park District- 20701 Western Ave, Olympia Fields, IL 60461

Description: Instructional based group that meets every Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:30 PM. The Academy runs 4 rated tournaments a year, and has an extensive library of chess material to lend. There are a number of club members who compete in regional meetings.

University Park Chess Circle

Place: University Park Public Library – 84 Town Center Dr, University Park, IL 60484

Description: Meet up for chess casually the second and fourth Sunday of every month @ 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM. The Circle takes on a casual feel with optional coaching for beginners. Our library offers standard and oversized chess sets.

Flossmoor Chess Guild

Location: Flossmoor Public Library – 1000 Sterling Ave, Flossmoor, IL 60422

Description: This is Club for serious players. It is held on Friday evenings from 7:00 PM -10:00 PM. It runs official rated tournaments on a regular basis and keeps an active ladder system. Participants must provide their own chess clocks for timed games.
